Your Ratio

8.00lbs / hp
Target Ratio:7.78

To beat them, you need to either:

Add This Power+11 hp
Or Drop Weight-89 lbs

Power-to-Weight Interpretation

Higher power-to-weight improves acceleration. However, actual performance also depends on:

  • Drivetrain type (FWD, RWD, AWD traction limits)
  • Transmission efficiency and gearing
  • Aerodynamic drag and rolling resistance

Methodology

Power-to-Weight (HP/lb): Total HP ÷ Total Weight (lbs)

Power-to-Weight (kW/kg): Total kW ÷ Total Weight (kg)

Frequently Asked Questions

How does power-to-weight compare across different car types?

Supercars: 0.10+ HP/lb; sports cars: 0.08-0.10; performance sedans: 0.06-0.08; track cars: 0.12+. Higher is faster, but handling and tires matter too.

Should I include fuel weight in my total?

Yes, for accurate acceleration calculations. Empty fuel = lighter but shorter range. For comparison, use ~50% fuel load (typical drive cycle) or fully fueled for conservative estimates.

Why are lighter cars sometimes slower in a drag race?

Power delivery matters. A 400 HP car with 2,000 lbs looks great on paper (0.20 HP/lb), but if it spins the wheels and can't hook traction, a heavier car with traction translates power better.
