Track Day Corner Balance Calculator

Input your raw scale weights to find your current Cross Weight (Wedge) percentage. The tool calculates exactly what each corner SHOULD weigh to achieve optimal zero-preload balance while maintaining your car's natural front/rear and left/right bias.

Accuracy & Use

This calculator provides guideline values based on scale inputs and standard zero-preload math. Real setup choices depend on suspension geometry, track, and driver. Use as a diagnostic starting point.

Methodology

Uses corner weight proportions to compute target corner weights preserving front/rear and left/right bias. See docs for detailed derivation.

Frequently Asked Questions

What's the standard corner weight target?

Most prefer 50% cross-weight balance (front-left + rear-right = front-right + rear-left). This creates neutral weight transfer through turns. Front-heavy cars need more front bar.

Does corner balance affect understeer/oversteer?

Yes! Too much front weight causes understeer (push); too much rear causes oversteer (loose). Use corner weights to dial chassis geometry before adjusting suspension stiffness.

How often should I recheck corner weights?

After any suspension change, before a race season, and after heavy impacts. Minor changes under 1% are normal; over 2% should trigger investigation.
