The Media Gallery is the centralized hub for all your images across every template you use on Lapsite. Rather than uploading an image specifically to a Links site and uploading it *again* to a Racefolio site, you upload it once to the Media Gallery, and it's available everywhere.
In this guide, we'll cover how to upload files, how Lapsite automatically optimizes them, and how to track your storage limits.
The Top Navigation Bar
The top navigation on the Gallery page includes a few specific tools to help manage your media:
- Back to Dashboard: Easily return to your main sites list.
- Get Add-ons: A quick link to the Add-ons page if you need to purchase more storage capacity immediately.
- Keyboard Shortcuts: A reference sheet detailing time-saving shortcuts (like `Ctrl/Cmd + A` to select all images).
- Help Menu: Restart the specific interactive Spotlight tour for the Gallery page.

Storage Status Dashboard
At the very top of the page, the Storage Status dashboard keeps you completely informed about your plan limits.
- Usage Bar: A visual progress bar detailing exactly how many images you have uploaded versus your current maximum limit. The bar changes color from Blue (Healthy) to Amber (Near Limit) to Red (Action Required) as you approach your cap.
- Plan & Add-ons Breakdown: Clearly displays your current plan (Free, Pro, Max) and explicitly breaks out your base plan limits from any purchased Expansion limits.
- Upgrade Prompts: One-click links to either upgrade your overall plan or buy £5/mo Image Add-ons if you are nearing your limit.

Pro-Level Uploading & Optimization
The upload system in Lapsite isn't just a basic file drop—it's an advanced optimization engine.
How to Upload: Drag-and-Drop: Drag up to 5 images at a time directly into the dashed upload zone anywhere on your screen.* Click to Browse: Click the dashed area to open your device's native file explorer.* Formats: Lapsite accepts JPG, PNG, and WebP.
Smart Image Optimization (Automatic) You don't need to manually crush your files in Photoshop before uploading!
File Size Support:
You can drop files of any size (up to 10MB) photos straight from your camera into the uploader.
Browser Pre-compression:
Lapsite instantly compresses the image *in your browser* down to a safe size before it even hits the network, ensuring rapid upload speeds.
WebP Conversion:
Once on the server, Lapsite automatically converts every image to the next-generation `WebP` format, reducing final file sizes by up to 85% while maintaining flawless visual quality. Your website will load lightning fast for visitors worldwide automatically.
During upload, you'll see a real-time progress tracker moving through five steps: `Validate -> Safety -> Optimize -> Upload -> Save`.

The Gallery Toolbar
Below the upload zone, a sticky navigation bar gives you total control over the media you've uploaded.
- Search: Instantly filter images by their filename.
- Upload: A quick-upload button if you've scrolled past the main drag-and-drop zone.
- Bulk Selection: Select All/Deselect All buttons.
- Sort By: Sort your gallery by *Newest*, *Oldest*, *Filename*, or specifically by files that are *Used in sites*.
- View Modes: Toggle between a visual Grid mode or a detailed List layout.

Managing Your Assets
Every image card within the Grid or List view provides deep insights into the asset.
Image Details: Hover over any image in the grid to see a dark overlay displaying its filename, its compressed file size, the `image/webp` format type, and its upload date.
Quick Actions: Eye Icon: Opens the Lightbox view to see the high-resolution image in full screen.3-Dot Menu: Allows you to quickly `Download` the optimized file back to your computer or `Delete` it from Lapsite.
The Lightbox View: When you click the Eye icon, the image opens in an immersive, full-screen Lightbox UI. From here, you can seamlessly browse back and forth through your entire gallery using the on-screen arrows or your keyboard. The Lightbox also features a top toolbar giving you the ability to view exactly where the image is 'Used In' across your sites, zoom in on details, or permanently delete the asset without leaving full-screen.
Bulk Operations: You can click multiple images to select them, or use `Shift + Click` to select a massive range of consecutive images instantly. Selecting images opens the Selection Actions Bar pinned to the bottom of the screen, allowing you to bulk delete and clear your storage out rapidly.
The "Used" Safety CheckThis is one of Lapsite's most vital features. If an image is currently attached to *any* of your template sites, it will have a bright red Used badge on it.
If you try to bulk delete a selection of images, Lapsite's database double-checks every single image. If any are actively in-use on a published or draft site, you will receive a harsh warning detailing exactly which sites rely on that image to prevent you from accidentally breaking your public portfolios!
